Find a specialist in Norway — matched to your needs and your postcode
Find an expert or professional in Norway based on matched criteria and location.
We help private clients and companies find the right specialists and experts in several fields, based on their preferences and location (by postcode). The service is designed mainly for those who want to hire someone quickly for a short-term project or a one-off assignment. Contacting local providers through localmarket.no is free.
Professionals must be verified before they can be recommended locally in their industry. Service providers are not directly affiliated with localmarket.no, nor do we promote them. Your enquiry creates a direct, confidential relationship between you and the specialist — accountant and client, insurance agent and client, lawyer and client, estate agent and client, translator and client, architect and client, plumber and client or electrician and client. All specialists we work with hold the required local authorisations, licences or certificates.

What to look for in Norway
Accountant — Regnskapsfører. Anyone keeping accounts for other businesses must be an authorised accountant (autorisert regnskapsfører) under the supervision of the Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet). Companies that require an audit need a registered or state-authorised auditor (Revisor).
Insurance agent — Forsikringsagent. Insurance agents and brokers in Norway must be registered with Finanstilsynet. An agent represents one or more insurers, while a broker (Forsikringsmegler) works on your behalf across the market.
Lawyer — Advokat. Only a person holding a Norwegian lawyer’s licence (advokatbevilling) may use the title advokat. Lawyers are bound by professional confidentiality and rules of conduct.
Estate agent — Eiendomsmegler. Estate agency in Norway is a licensed activity supervised by Finanstilsynet. The agent must act in the interests of both buyer and seller and follow the rules for bidding rounds.
Translator — Translatør. Official documents often require a state-authorised translator (statsautorisert translatør), who has passed the national translator exam. For meetings and appointments, look for a qualified interpreter (Tolk) listed in the national register of interpreters.
Architect — Arkitekt. For building applications, the person responsible for the application (ansvarlig søker) and the design must meet the competence requirements of the building regulations. Central approval (sentral godkjenning) is a useful sign of a qualified firm.
Plumber and electrician — Rørlegger og Elektriker. Electrical installations may only be carried out by a company registered in the national register of electrical contractors (Elvirksomhetsregisteret). For plumbing, choose a firm with qualified, certified tradespeople (fagbrev) — especially for bathrooms and other wet rooms.
Carpenter — Tømrer. Choose a firm with qualified, certified tradespeople (fagbrev). For work that requires a building permit, the contractor must take formal responsibility for the work (ansvarsrett), and central approval (sentral godkjenning) makes this easier.
Financial advisor — Finansiell rådgiver. Investment advice is a licensed activity in Norway, supervised by Finanstilsynet. A good sign of qualification is the title of authorised financial adviser (autorisert finansiell rådgiver, AFR) under the financial industry’s authorisation scheme (FinAut).
