Good to know

Types of contract — Strømavtale. The most common are spot price contracts (spotpris), where you pay the hourly market price plus the supplier’s markup (påslag) and a monthly fee, and fixed price contracts (fastpris). When comparing, look not only at the price per kWh but also at the markup, monthly fee and any binding period.

Your bill has two parts. You pay the supplier you choose for the energy itself, and your local grid company (nettselskap) for delivery, through the grid fee (Nettleie). You can change your electricity supplier, but not your grid company.

Price areas. Norway is divided into five price areas (NO1–NO5), and spot prices can differ significantly between them. That is why we always compare offers for your address.

Norgespris for households. Since 1 October 2025, households can choose a state-funded fixed electricity price — Norgespris — of 40 øre per kWh excluding VAT until the end of 2026. You order it via Elhub or from your local grid company. You still have an agreement with an electricity supplier, so their fees and markup still matter. Norgespris does not cover businesses.

Solar panels and heat pumps. Solar panels and a heat pump can lower your bills for good. Profitability depends on the building’s location, your consumption and the electricity price — it pays to ask for several quotes with a payback calculation.

How it works

  1. Your request. Tell us your address, annual consumption and type of property.
  2. Analysis. We check the available offers and compare the terms.
  3. Offers. You receive several non-binding proposals with the differences explained.
  4. Switch. You choose a supplier, and the switch happens with no interruption to your power supply.

Frequently asked questions

Will switching supplier interrupt my electricity?
No. Only the company that sells you energy changes — the grid and your meter stay the same.

Is it still worth comparing suppliers with Norgespris?
Yes. Norgespris sets the price of the energy itself, but you still have an agreement with a supplier, and monthly fees and markups differ between companies.

Can a business use Norgespris?
No. Norgespris is for households and holiday homes. For businesses, a good comparison of market offers matters all the more.

Do solar panels pay off in Norway?
Often yes, especially in the south and with high daytime consumption. It depends on the roof, sun exposure and electricity price — we will get several quotes for you.
