Your adviser will work with you to understand your current situation and attitude to investing before recommending a suitable portfolio. This could be a bespoke portfolio or one of the funds managed by our Central Investment Team. All of the advice given will be tailored to you, your circumstances and your aims.

Investment advisors work as professionals within the financial industry by guiding clients in exchange for specific fees. Investment advisors owe a fiduciary duty to their clients and are required to put their client's interests first at all times. For example, investment advisors must ensure that clients’ transactions are given priority over their own. Any recommendations made to clients are well-tailored to those clients’ needs, preferences, and financial circumstances. Investment advisors must also be careful to avoid any real or perceived conflicts of interest. Investment advisors often have a level of discretionary authority that allows them to act on behalf of their clients without having to obtain formal permission before executing a transaction. However, this authority must be formally provided by the client, generally part of the client onboarding process.

The fiduciary standard is the key reason for working with Registered Investment Advisors. They must manage your portfolio in a way that benefits you, not their commission. That may reassure you that an advisor’s financial suggestions fit your plan. However, an investment advisor who focuses on securities may not provide comprehensive financial advice. You might need help with estate planning or college savings planning, for instance. As a result, you may require a Certified Financial Planner or another type of financial advisor. In addition, using multiple advisors means paying multiple fees, which may not be ideal if you’re trying to minimize costs for financial advice.
